In the 2002 released horror-adventure game Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem for the Gamecube one of the four locations includes the ancient city of Angkor Thom, Cambodia. Esteemed video game creator/luminary Shigeru Miyamoto acted as a producer on this title. Many artistic elements of the ancient Khmer temples adorn wall textures and objects in this part of the game, although they are often used with significant artistic license and combined with other magical symbols, spells and cultures of the region.
Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem has a Metascore of 92 and is therefore a must-play classic on the Gamecube.
“Eternal Darkness can safely be called one of the GameCube’s best titles, with beautiful visuals, deeply rewarding gameplay that encourages one to return, and a superb story that puts most horror movies (or, for that matter, most video games) to shame.” (Spencer McIlvaine, review in NintendoLife, 01/10/2010)
